(ANSAmed) – The United States will support “efforts aimed at finding a peaceful, lasting and mutually acceptable solution to the Western Sahara question.”Thus declared Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, during a joint press conference with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Saad El-Dine Otmani in Rabat.Clinton believes the autonomy the plan for autonomy of the Western Sahara, under Moroccan sovereignty, is a “serious, credible and realistic” proposal because “it would allow the Saharaoui to independently manage their own affairs.”Clinton also confirmed that the U.S. would continue to support the efforts undertaken under the auspices of the United Nations, to encourage the parties to open up and find a solution to the conflict.(ANSAmed).
