Washington – The U.S. Department of State commended, on Thursday, the reforms initiated by HM King Mohammed VI aimed at meeting the people’s needs, and described relations between Morocco and the United States as “strong”.

Hillary Clinton “will go to Morocco because of the strong relationship we have with the Moroccan government and people,” Andy Halus, State Department’s Deputy Spokesman for the Near Eastern Affairs Bureau, told MAP.

Recalling the “successful elections” held in Morocco on November, he insisted that “the recent reforms that the King and his government have implemented to address the need of the Moroccan people to increase the rule of law and democratic reforms are all positive steps that Morocco has recently taken.”

The policy of the US is to work with governments to ensure that they are implementing reforms and “we are very fortunate that a partner like Morocco has been doing this in a very steady pattern that enables it to address the need of its people in a timely manner,” Halus said.
