MARRAKECH, Morocco — Savannah’s Tim O’Neal finished at 16-under-par Friday to win the Open Palmeraie PGP, an event on the Atlas Pro Tour.

O’Neal (66-67-67) finished three strokes ahead of Italy’s Matteo Delpodio. Savannah’s Tommy Schaff (71-70-69) tied for sixth at 6 under.

O’Neal and Schaff, along with Jhared Hack and Chris Condello, are serving as “ambassadors” through the eGolf Tour, a Southeast regional tour. To help raise the profile of Morocco as a golf destination, the quartet are playing in several tournaments on the Alps Tour, a European-based developmental tour. Events in Morocco fall under the Atlas Tour.

Friday’s round was delayed by frozen greens.

“We had to wait because of the greens and I was a little nervous, but once I started playing well as I holed the first birdie on the second hole, I felt more relaxed,” O’Neal told alpstourgolf.com. “I really play solid today, even more than during past days. I only missed one green and dropped on shot on the fourth. After the front nine, I had a look on the leaderboard. I like to know where I am. I saw one player (Delpodio) two strokes back so told myself that I had to hole more birdies.”
