PUPILS from Treviglas Community College have gone the extra mile to raise money for a school trip to Morocco.

Clad in matching World Challenge Morocco T-shirts, 19 hit the Camel Trail for a 24-mile sponsored bike ride in aid of the expedition in July 2013.

Each pupil needs to raise £1,325, and the ride gave the Year 10 and 11 cyclists a great start, with some netting more than £200.

During their two-week stay they will divide their time between working with a charity on an educational project and trekking through the spectacular Rif Mountains in the north of the country.

Geography teacher Matt Leech, who is organising the trip, said he couldn’t have been more pleased with the pupils’ fundraising efforts.

“It was fantastic to see the whole group get together to help make this trip happen,” he said.

“We still have a bit more ground to cover, but we’re certainly on our way. They’ve all worked extremely well as a team so far, and I know they’ll achieve their goal.”
