New York – Morocco’s Ambassador to the UN called, on Tuesday, for the setting up of a new framework of cooperation between the UN, national parliament, and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The Moroccan Diplomat, who presented a draft resolution in this regard to the General Assembly, highlighted Morocco’s efforts to promote the contributions of legislative institutions in achieving the UN’s goals.
He said the draft resolution is based on resolution 65/126 which calls for well-structured parliamentary participation in the UN.
The new text is also based on the report of the UN Secretary General on the status of cooperation with the IPU.
The draft resolution aims notably at reinforcing cooperation and sealing a new agreement between the UN and the IPU.
