Moroccan Government Denies Becoming Migration Policeman in Africa

Rabat, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) Moroccan Foreign Minister, Saadedín to Otmani, said today that his country “refuses to play the role of Europe”s policeman” in immigration and people movement issues, according to official news agency MAP.

For that reason Morocco refused to sign the EU agreement on the movement of persons, added Otmani speaking before the House of Councillors (upper house) of Parliament.

He said, however, that despite that the document contains provisions that his country considered inappropriate, his government will sign “when conditions are suitable.”

Cooperation on migration control is recognized by the government os Spain on the Morocco government. This country has become a transit point for African migrants.
