Rabat (MAP) -Gambian Foreign Minister Mamadou Tangara reaffirmed, on Tuesday in Rabat, his country’s position in support of the morocanity of the Sahara, insisting that this position “is not open to ambiguity”.
“Our position is not open to ambiguity. Gambia recognizes the morocanity of the Sahara and we have battled for this cause. Personally I had, before I became foreign minister, defended the morocanity of the Sahara within the African Union to make this cause known to those who have not understood it,” Tangara told the press after a meeting with his Moroccan peer Saadeddine El Othmani.
El Othmani, for his part, said the Gambian minister carries a message from Gambia’s president to HM King Mohammed VI.
He commended Gambia’s position over the Sahara issue, a position which has always been “unequivocal”.
The minister said that Morocco is making continued efforts to promote bilateral partnership and consolidate relations with Gambia.
