(ANSAmed) – ROME – Italian movies will be under the spotlight at the XIX Festival of Mediterranean Cinema in Tetouan, Morocco, one of the most important events in Maghreb.
Among the screenings is a section dedicated to ‘Days of Italian Cinema in Morocco’ which will showcase a number of Italian productions including ‘Le cose belle’ (beautiful things) by Agostino Ferrente and Giovanni Piperno, which is competing for an award. ‘Cesare deve morire (Cesare must die) by the Taviani brothers will close the festival. Another Italian, Grazia Volpi of the historic production house Kaoscinematografica also behind the Tavianis’ movie, is chairing the jury.
The section dedicated to Italian films is a project promoted by the Tetouan festival together with the MedFilm festival, the main Italian event dedicated to Euro-Mediterranean cinema held annually in Rome. Announcing the event, organizers of the MedFilm Festival said it is part of an agreement with the Moroccan culture ministry and stressed the key role played by the North African country in the ‘Mediterranean audiovisual market’.
