Sofia. Bulgaria irrevocably waives ACTA, the government information office informed. The government refused to give consent for Bulgaria to participate in proceedings for a statement to the European Court of Justice brought at the request of the European Commission for interpretation whether the trade agreement to combat counterfeiting between the EU and its Member States, Australia, Canada, Japan, Republic of Korea , United Mexican States, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, Swiss and United States (ACTA) is compatible with the Treaties and in particular – the Charter of Fundamental rights of the European Union.On February 15 this year the government adopted a decision to suspend the procedure for Bulgaria’s support on ACTA. In early July, the European Parliament refused to approve signing the agreement.
In its judgment today, the government closed the procedure to conclude the trade agreement to combat counterfeiting.
