British Westminster Foundation For Democracy Supports Political Reforms Undertaken By Morocco, Statement

Rabat – Deputy Margaret Moon from the British Labor Party, on a visit to Morocco within the framework of a delegation representing the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), affirmed that the body supports political reforms undertaken by Morocco.

Margaret Moon, who met with on Thursday with Speaker of the lower house Karim Ghellab, added that her visit to Morocco aims to define areas of action and cooperation between the Moroccan parliament and the said Foundation, a statement by the lower house (house of representatives) said.

Ghellab underlined that this visit coincide with the deep mutations taking place in Morocco, recalling that the country is living a second alternation following that of 1998 thanks to elections that brought an opposition party to the leadership of government.

He added that HM King Mohammed VI, since his enthronement, focused on promoting democratic choices and institutional reforms consisting of pluralism, establishing individual and plural liberties, holding transparent elections and reinforcing young people’s and women’s representation.

The British Foundation informed Ghellab of the different projects organized last year by the body, including those related to training MPs.
