Spanish Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz hailed Morocco’s co-operation in the fight against illegal immigration, Le Matin reported on Thursday (October 17th). He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a co-ordination centre for maritime monitoring of coasts and borders on Wednesday in Madrid.

On Thursday, the Moroccan interior ministry said a group of 300 illegal immigrants attempted to force their way to the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. Seven security services members were wounded in the operation and some 100 would-be illegal immigrants were arrested.

The ministry said 20 attempts were foiled during Eid.
