Beijing – The development of Chinese-African relations is a real strategic choice to which the two parties are firmly committed, Moroccan Foreign Minister said on Thursday in Beijing.
“The development of Chinese-African relations is a real strategic choice to which we are firmly committed and our resolve to forge ahead with the establishment of a practical, concrete cooperation should be based on common development and a win-win relationship,” Saad Dine El Otmani said before the 5th ministerial conference of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), on behalf of the countries of the north African sub-region.
“I would like to reiterate, on behalf of the north African sub-region, our unwavering attachment to the Chinese-African strategic partnership, and express our firm will and readiness to positively participate in its reinforcement and success,” he added.
“The answers and approaches that we should provide to address some decisive issues, as good governance, the fight against poverty and precariousness, climate change, sustainable development, and improvement of the UN system, require close cooperation and mutual support,” El Otmani said, commending the current cooperation between China and Africa.
The minister underlined the positive and concrete results achieved since the creation of the forum in 2000 which makes it a example for solidarity and South-South cooperation.
El Otmani went on saying that the two parties should pool efforts to turn the forum into a platform for dialogue meant to foster Chinese-African cooperation, as well as an efficient tool that meets the pressing needs of stability, peace and economic and social development.
