Casablanca, Art Media Agency (AMA).
The first edition of the Casablanca international Biennial (BIC) was an overwhelming success thanks to the participation of 262 artists from more than forty countries, as well as the flood of 23,000 visitors, art enthusiasts and collectors. The event took place in the economic capital Casablanca in Morocco, from 15 to 30 of June 2012. The fair was an opportunity to witness the dynamic artistic creation of Morocco’s cultural scene amidst the international and continental art communities.
The biennial was organised throughout the city; the exhibition brought visitors to many of the city’s emblematic sites such as the new white towers of the luxury hotel Sofitel, the school of fine-arts, the former Sacré-Cœur cathedral, the historic Fabrique Culturelle in the former slaughterhouses, the exhibition space Actua, as well as a number of art galleries in partnership with the fair.
The fair’s Moroccan location was promising, as it had been a hub between Europe, the East and the West. Collectors, exhibition curators, artists, and other cultural mediators were in attendance. The next edition is planned for 2014 and is expected to meet the same success.
