Rabat – The conclusions of the meeting of Arab Maghreb Union (AMU)’s foreign ministers, on the approach to address security challenges, are a pivotal step on the path of AMU’s building, Minister delegate for Foreign Affairs Youssef El Amrani said on Wednesday.
He told “Al Ittihad Al Ichtiraki” daily that the participants in the Algiers meeting agreed to tackle security challenges through three methods namely: strengthening bilateral security cooperation, pooling efforts by all Maghreb States to address these challenges and coordinating actions to face challenges in the Sahel and Sub-Saharan states.
The minister stressed the need to deal with these security issues in connection with a comprehensive approach taking account of the legal and human rights aspects, in addition to the requisites of economic development.
El Amrani added that the Maghreb interior and justice ministers will meet shortly in preparation for the Maghreb summit slated late 2012.
