As one of Morocco’s most popular beach resorts, it is no wonder Agadir is such a hit with surfers looking for bargain all-inclusive holidays online. By surfing the net and finding accommodation here, it won’t be long before you’re surfing the waves!
One of Agadir’s biggest draws is its golden beaches, which have become something of a magnet for tourists. However, there is plenty more to do than just lie back and soak up the rays, and you’ll find the sea is almost as full of people as the sand is.
All around the resort are surf shops – although not too many locals surf and those who do prefer not to share their waves. You’ll get a friendly reception at these shops if you need to come in and buy some accessories or hire a board for the duration of your holiday.
Don’t worry if you’re travelling with friends and are something of a novice compared to them, either – or even if you are a beginner – as there are also surf schools where you can book lessons. You’ll be successfully catching a wave sooner than you think.

Devil’s Rock
The name may sound intimidating, but this is actually a spot that has plenty to offer whether you’re a beginner or a pro. The sand bar swell that comes crashing on to the beach here can reach heights of around 6 ft and is really fun to ride.
It’s worth coming here during the week when it’s quiet. Keep in mind that this spot is not only popular with surfers, but also with fishermen. You can even buy a fresh catch while you’re here, but you might prefer making your way to the local restaurant.
Imesouane Bay
Between Agadir and Essaouira you will find a dirt track that leads down to the bay. It is open to the public and you could simply walk the path if you fancy a stroll before you take to your board.
There are a few local surf shops peppered around here, and it’s worth putting any French skills you have to use as it is likely this is the language spoken by the owners. This is a great place for views as the bay is backed by an imposing cliff, while the waves are of a classic quality for the region. Don’t be surprised if you catch the odd wave that is particularly long, especially if you’re visiting in winter when sections of the surf join together.
Anchor Point
If you have hired a car for your holiday, it’s worth making the 20 km trip out of Agadir to Taghazout in the north. This is a surf village that is a real gem due to its world class waves.
Come here if you’re an experienced surfer and you won’t be disappointed. These are some of the best waves you will find close to Europe, while there is a lively atmosphere on the beach. Despite this, the spot is not too crowded – meaning this is something of a well-kept secret!
You may be content to surf every day of your stay, but if you love being active be certain to take advantage of some of the other things on offer in Agadir. There are multiple golf courses for you to visit, while outside the city you’ll find a choice of great hiking trails.
