Curtains Come Down On Gnaoua World Music Festival

Essaouira  –  The 15th Gnaoua World Music Festival on came to an end, on Sunday, following four days livened up by masters of Gnaoua music performing together with musicians from around the globe.

The closing concert at the Moulay El Hassan stage was given by Gnaoua masters such as Abdelkader Amlil, Mustapha Baqbou, Omar Hayat and Said Oughassal to the delight of their numerous Moroccan and foreign fans.

This year’s edition, held under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, was marked by a large participation of renowned artists from such countries as Senegal, the USA, Pakistan and France.

    The event also featured conferences bringing together university professors, writers and artists as well as civil society activists to discuss artistic creation and current issues.
