Rabat – Japan loaned Morocco, on Friday, 1.09 billion dirhams to fund wastewater projects in 9 communes.
An agreement was signed in this respect in Rabat by Japan’s Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba and Economy and Finance Minister Nizar Baraka.
The loan will help fund wastewater projects that aim at improving the living conditions in the targeted communes, thus benefiting a population estimated at 1 million by 2025.
The projects are also intended to protect the environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and preserve water resources.
The targeted communes are Bouarfa, Nador, Targuist, Essaouira, Berkane, Al Aroui, Taourirt, Ouarzazate and M’rirt.
