RABAT, April 17 (Reuters) – Morocco has enough soft and durum wheat stocks to cover at least three months of domestic needs, a government committee said on Tuesday as the North African country braces for a sharp rise in cereal import needs in the 12 months to come.
The government’s ad-hoc committee in charge of monitoring market supply and commodity prices did not give more details, according to a statement carried by official media.
By end-March, Morocco’s stocks stood at 1.35 million tonnes of soft wheat, 130,000 tonnes of barley, 160,000 tonnes of durum and 220,000 tonnes of maize, official data show.
