A former Keynsham schoolboy is attempting to get to Morocco without spending any money.

Ollie Murray, who went to Broadlands School and the sixth form centre at Wellsway School, is taking part in The Hitch, along with hundreds of students from universities across England.

The 20-year-old York University student is making the journey with his friend Cat Peake.

The Hitch is held to raise money for Link Community Development, a charity that works to improve the quality of education in Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, South Africa and Uganda.

Ollie said: “This is to raise money for the children.

“It is a phenomenal event and gives children a phenomenal chance to escape the poverty they are born into.”

The Hitch is in its 20th year and over those two decades has brought in more than £3million for the charity.

Progress of the hitchers can be followed by visiting www.hitch.lcd.org.uk – Ollie is in group 430.
