Qatar-based social initiative Silatech has announced a partnership with the German Agency for International Co-operation (GIZ) and Sanabel, the microfinance network for Arab countries.
The project will allow 50,000 young people aged 16-30 in Egypt, Morocco and Yemen to build financial assets through youth-specific micro-savings accounts.
Silatech is offering financial and technical assistance in co-operation with GIZ, while Sanabel is serving as the knowledge dissemination and policy partner.
The two-year programme is expected to facilitate access to micro-savings accounts and financial literacy training for the target group. Youth savings accounts will be offered by a range of leading financial institutions which have operations throughout the three countries involved in this initiative.
