Washington – The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops highlighted, on Thursday, the “strong stand” taken by HM King Mohammed VI to preserve the spiritual significance of the sacred city of Al Quds through messages recently sent by His Majesty to the heads of state of the five Security Council permanent members.
The messages, sent by HM the King, President of the Al Quds Committee, raised the serious situation in the holy city amid the continuing Israeli attempts to alter the legal status of Al Quds and its historical, spiritual and human characteristics.
In this respect, Director of the Office of International Justice and Peace at the Conference Stephen Colecchi commended the efforts led by HM the King so that the sacred city preserves the characteristics representing the three monotheistic faiths.
Colecchi described as “very important” the issues raised in the Royal messages, adding that the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops “certainly shares the concern for peace and a two State solution”.
