Brussels – The election of Fathallah Sijilmassi as Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM) is a new recognition of the Moroccan diplomacy’s input to the Union and an illustration of the relevance of HM King Mohammed VI’s vision for an efficient and proactive diplomacy, Minister delegate to the Foreign Minister Youssef Amrani said.
In a statement to MAP, he affirmed that Morocco will continue its action, with the same resolve, to contribute to reinforcing the UFM’s operational capacities, mainly through developing its complementarity and coherence with the different dimensions of the European Neighboring Policy.
A special interest should be given to the development of coherent regional initiatives in strategic areas as trade, energy and transportation, he added.
On this occasion, the Minister delegate hailed the labeling by the UFM’s high-ranking officials, convened Friday in Brussels, of the trans-maghreb motorway project.
