Rabat – EU Council of Ministers should officially adopt in February the negotiation mandate for a new Morocco-European Union fisheries agreement, said on Friday the EU delegation in Rabat.
In this field, the discussions over the mandate are “fruitful,” said the same source.
The European Parliament had voted last December against the extension of the fisheries agreement between the EU and Morocco, and urged the Commission to negotiate a new agreement that is more advantageous from an economic and environmental viewpoint.
In response to this vote, Morocco has asked fishing vessels operating under this agreement to immediately leave Moroccan waters.
