Rabat – Sincere dialogue is the best means to solve the issue of Morocco’s territorial integrity within the framework of efforts by the UN, Speaker of the Greek Parliament Philippos Petsalnikos said.
In a meeting on Monday with Speaker of the House of Advisors Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah, the Greek official commended the relations between Greece and Morocco, emphasizing the important role played by the parliament in strengthening and developing these ties to serve the common interests of both countries, a statement by the House said Tuesday .
Petsalnikos also hailed the important democratic changes undertaken in Morocco, noting that he had visited the Kingdom before the events of the Arab Spring and was informed of how Morocco has responded quickly and positively to these events.
He also said his country strongly supports the distinguished bonds between Morocco and the European Union (EU), recalling in this regard the advanced status and the status of partner for democracy that was granted to Morocco.
Biadillah said the autonomy proposal in the southern provinces constitutes a just and realistic solution to put an end to the conflict over the Sahara, enable the Sahrawi people to manage their affairs under the Moroccan sovereignty and give impetus to the revitalization of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) with the aim of rising to the various challenges south of the Mediterranean, the statement said.
