Berlin – Christoph Heusgen Advisor on Foreign Policy to the Federal Chancellor, Angela Merkel, said on Tuesday that his country supports Morocco’s efforts aiming at preserving security and stability in the region of the Sahara and the Sahel.
Speaking during a meeting in Berlin with Minister Delegate to the Foreign Minister Youssef Amrani, the German official stressed the pressing need for the reinvigoration of the Maghrban union into a hub of regional cooperation and development.
Heusgen also recalled the setting up of a joint economic committee during talks between HM King Mohammed VI and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September 2010.
He added that the joint committee was tasked with elaborating a strategic partnership in the field of renewable energies.
Amrani is paying an official visit to Germany as part of the high-level political dialogue between the two countries.
