There is now a cellphone app to find out whether specific beaches in Morocco are clean and how polluted the water is.

Iplages helps beach goers choose the nearest and cleanest place to go swimming and is updated every 15 days.

The announcement was made by Secretary of State Nezha El Ouadi, who is tasked with sustainability. Developed by national research laboratories and ones for pollution monitoring, Iplages gives citizens information on water quality, services, and facilities on 169 beaches, with 451 air quality monitoring stations.

For water quality, there are 45 swimming stations in 9 coastal regions, 20 of which on the Mediterranean. All the data are available also on the secretary of state website.
