French energy firm Engie has signed a memorandum of understanding with Moroccan independent electricity company Nareva Holding to develop new projects in north and west Africa, it said in a statement on Friday.

Engie said the firms were targeting power generation and energy services projects Egypt, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Ghana and Cameroon, with the objective of building a portfolio of assets of about 5,000 megawatts (MW) to 6,000 MW between 2020 and 2025.

Both companies are partners in Morocco’s 300 MW Tarfaya wind farm, the largest in Africa.
