Moroccan Life

An artistic look at the life, landscape and culture of Morocco, both in macro and in detail.

This past May, I went to Morocco in order to photograph city life, rural life and landscapes that was unlike any I had encountered before. There, I found a deep connection with nature and color. In my work, I explore the extent to which society integrates with nature.

The colors in “Sunrise” overlap with those in “Tapestries,” thus showing the relationship city life has with the environment around it. Color is a major theme throughout my work, showing the vibrancy and business of natural life, whereas the black and white images display simplicity (which I also came across in my travels throughout Morocco). My intention was to explore how a culture has been shaped by the environment around it and by displaying both city and rural life, this concept is emphasized.
