The Moroccan people celebrated this Sunday the Independence Day of the Kingdom, which commemorates the historic speech of November 18, 1955 of the father of the Nation, late His Majesty Mohammed V announcing the end of the protectorate and liberation of the Motherland, and will forever be a highlight of our country’s history.

On this occasion, Moroccans remember one episode of the throne and people who renewed patriotic struggle thanks to the will of the Moroccan people and under the direction of the king by allowing to face and win against the colonial power and oblige it to recognize the legitimate rights of the people.

The first of these rights was the return from exile of the symbol of unity, late SM Mohammed V and royal family, in 1955 and independence in 1956.

This achievement was only the first step in the liberation of the rest of the country, especially the southern provinces, to which the late Mohammed V devoted total support for the establishment of the South Liberation Army, giving rise to the recovery of Tarfaya in 1958.

The late Hassan II continued this battle of national reunification, recovering Sidi Ifni in 1969 and Moroccan Sahara in 1975, thanks to the glorious Green March, consolidated by the recovery of Wadi Eddahab on August 14, 1979.

Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, is experiencing numerous reforms in various fields, as well as major development projects, in parallel with the further consolidation of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and civilizational influence of the country. This country which symbolizes and defends permanently the values of peace and solidarity, as well as coexistence, middle ground and universal humanistic values.
