Chefchaouen, or The Blue Pearl Of Morocco, is a city unlike any other. Nestled in the Rif Mountains, it’s known for its stunning blue-washed landscape, with buildings painted in varying shades of blue — cyan, cobalt, sapphire, azure, indigo.

How do you capture the scent of this captivating city? That is what husband and wife duo Clara and John Molloy of MEMO sets out do with their new Moroccan Leather Eau de Parfum.

MEMO’s latest fragrance is a masterclass in combining ingredients that seem at odds with each other. The scent has notes of orange blossom (Chefchaouen boasts some of the sweetest, juiciest oranges in the world), musk, ginger oil and leather. The zesty sweetness of orange blossom is balanced with the rounded ruggedness musk and leather, which are olfactory reminders of the variety of goods sold in the souks hidden throughout the medina. Set to emulate the exotic ceramic flower pots lined up along the alleyways are also a slew of floral notes: Vanilla, mandarin, ylang-ylang, tonka beans and galbanum.

Like the other perfumes in the MEMO series, you’ll see the concoction housed in the same, abstract yellow-toned bottle, but this time, the MEMO Moroccan Leather flaçon hones in on a print reminiscent of a densely decorated Moroccan tribal rug. The fragrance, a leathery blend that is both intensely sensual and woodsy, make a great evening scent, specifically for a night out sipping cocktails on a breezy rooftop bar.

Priced at S$355 (75ml), MEMO’s Moroccan Leather EDP will be available from 15 November 2018 at escentials Paragon, escentials TANGS Orchard and escentials.com
