The Moroccan government will spend 2.99 billion U.S. dollars from 2018 to 2021 to develop its roads, Minister of Equipment and Transport, Abdelkader Amara, said on Monday.
Speaking during the 10th National Congress on Roads, Amara said the investments devoted to roads have increased significantly during recent years.
He noted that investments will reach 750 million dollars yearly during the 2018-2021 period, compared with 664 million dollars in the 2012-2017 period and 534 million dollars in the 2008-2011 period.
Morocco has a road network of 57,300 km of roads, but deficit is still high for constructing new ones, developing highways and improving road connectivity across the kingdom to boost economic growth and employment.
