Moroccan Minister of Energy, Mining and Sustainable Development and the head of the EU delegation in the country held talks to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector.

Morrocan Minister Aziz Rabbah and head of the EU delegation, Ambassador Claudia Wiedey, met on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Rabbah highlighted the major events undertaken by Morocco as part of its energy strategy in the context of climate change, coastal issues, air pollution and the circular economy, said a statement by the Ministry of Energy.

“Sustainable development, energy and mining need to be considered as part of an integrated approach in order to facilitate investment. These two sectors are important economic levers that should attract the interest of major donors,” said the statement.

Rabbah also raised topics that could be the subject of future partnerships with the EU, particularly the exchange of experiences of EU member countries and associations, improvement of governance of energy project management, promotion of energy sector investments and upgrading of the electricity distribution network.
