APU Holds Meeting Of Executive Committee In Morocco

The 70th session of the Executive Committee of the African Parliamentary Union (APU) opened on Thursday in Rabat.

The two-day event, chaired by speaker of Guinea-Bissau’s National Assembly, Cipriano Cassama, will discuss several issues, including admission and readmission within the UPA as well as the implementation of decisions and recommendations of the Conference of Presidents.

It will also discuss preparation of the draft agenda of the 40th Conference, Draft agenda of the 71st Session of the Executive Committee and date and venue of the 71st Session of the Executive Committee.

APU is a continental inter-parliamentary organization set up in Ivory Coast city of Abidjan in February 1976.

It aims particularly to bring together the parliamentary institutions of all African states to encourage contacts among African Parliamentarians and contribute to the promotion of democracy.
