Progress in economic relations between Russia and Morocco shows the results of a long and fruitful relationship between Moscow and Rabat, Ambassador of Morocco to Russia Abdelkader Lecheheb told Sputnik on Thursday.

“Trade turnover between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Russian Federation has increased significantly and reached $2.5 billion last year.

This progress reflects the long-standing dynamics of our relations,” Lesheheb said.

The Moroccan ambassador added that the progress is due to intense activity and delegation exchanges. He said his country planned to increase foodstuff exports to Russia.

In the near future, the sides will hold business meetings, as well as exchange private sector, agriculture, food and tourism delegations, Lesheheb said.
