Development plan worth 7 billion with 120,000 jobs.

RABAT – Investing in the South and on an area between the provinces of Laayoune, Dakhla and Guelmin, the triangle that is a thorn in the side of Morocco, is part of the project of king Mohammed VI – 40 years after the Green March, the mobilization that de facto ended Spanish colonialism. The overall investments is worth 77 billion dirham, almost seven billion euros, and provides for 120,000 new jobs.

In order to implement this sweeping development plan across several production sectors, five to 10 years will be necessary: private actors will also be involved along with the central government and local administrations.

Starting from 2016, 19 billion of dirhams will be allocated to the three regions for the implementation of projects in the infrastructure and telecommunication sectors. An investment worth 17 billion will be devoted to the development of the phosphate sector, with the creation of the industrial plant of Phosbucraa with 1,270 new laboratories planned. In line with this project is also the creation of a new institute of technical training in Forum el Oued.

Also important are the fisheries and agriculture sectors with a new season to relaunch them through centres to work on fish, in Dakhla and another production centre of excellence for the farming and preservation of agricultural products in Boujdour.

In the coastal area, finally, one of the most beautiful of Morocco, in front of the Balearic Islands, 84 projects to promote eco tourism have been planned as part of a project for environmental sustainability the country has worked on for years. (ANSAmed).
