The Moroccan Ministry of Tourism is taking steps to combat any negative effects from the unrest and terror attacks affecting neighbouring countries, a senior minister has said.
While briefing the second parliamentary chamber in Rabat, Minister of Tourism Lahcen Haddad said that his ministry had organised more than 700 trips for travel agents aiming to show the real face of Morocco and its people. It had also organised about 126 meetings with journalists and advertisers.
During the first six months of the year, the ministry organised visits for 17 foreign journalists.
Meanwhile, Haddad revealed that his ministry had “planned 407 trips over the summer and said that these tourists would bring around $2 billion to the country.”
He recognised that the attacks in Libya and Tunisia had negatively affected tourism in Morocco.
