Moroccan police have arrested a French woman of Moroccan origin and her male companion in the southern city of Safi for suspected links to ISIS.
The statement Thursday said the woman had recently fled from France while the man had lived abroad in the past and both were planning terrorist attacks either in Morocco or abroad.
While Morocco has little in the way of organized presence of extremist groups, the state regularly announces the arrest of small bands, usually aimed at recruiting people to fight in Syria and Iraq.
Police say at least 1,300 Moroccans have gone abroad to fight, with 155 returning to face detention.
