HRH Princess Lalla Salma, chairwoman of the Lalla Salma Foundation – Prevention and Treatment of Cancer, presided, Tuesday at the Foundation’s headquarters in Rabat, over a ceremony to donate medicines for children with cancer in five African countries.
This action is part of the overall care development programme for children with cancer in the countries of the Region, in collaboration with the Franco-African Pediatric Oncology Group.
It follows the Call and the recommendations of the Marrakech International Conference organized by the Lalla Salma Foundation in January 2012.
In addition to the donation of medicines, the Foundation provides significant support for the development of skills of health staff in these countries through the African Oncology School. The countries beneficiaries of this operation are Mali, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Gabon.
Fourteen African countries have sought collaboration with the Lalla Salma Foundation in the field of cancer prevention and control, and many agreements have been signed.
Currently, collaboration has been initiated with seven countries, namely Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal. The partnership covers all aspects of the fight against cancer.
