The governments of Serbia and Morocco on Thursday in Belgrade signed five agreements on cooperation in business, science, finance and veterinary medicine.

The agreements will contribute to the re-establishment and advancement of economic ties between the two countries which have historically had good political relations, the co-chairmen of a mixed committee for economic cooperation, Serbian Minister without portfolio Sulejman Ugljanin and Moroccan Minister for General Affairs and Governance Mohamed Najib Boulif, agreed after the signing.

The mixed committee was in session on Wednesday and Thursday in Belgrade for the first time in 30 years, which Ugljanin called a major step for the future.

Ugljanin stressed the Serbian government’s goal is to elevate cooperation with African and Asian countries to the level it was at during the former Yugoslavia.

Boulif noted that speedy implementation of the agreements is more important than the act of signing them. ”We think the atmosphere we encountered in Serbia surrounding our visit obligates us to take the positive spirit and experiences in cooperation back to Morocco, so the Moroccan side can respond appropriately,” said the minister.
