Baraka, who participated in the “Award for Best African banker and entrepreneur” banquet, was rewarded for “his work for the Moroccan economy promotion during economic recession,” said the organizers.
Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank, Sanusi Lanidowas was granted the “Central Bank Governor of the year” prize while the Moroccan banking group “Attijariwafa Bank” received the “Best Bank in North Africa” title and Banque Centrale Populaire was designated “Best retail Bank in Africa”.
The trophies are sponsored by “African Banker” Magazine Awards, which has been awarding annually prizes since 2007.
The 48th Annual assemblies of the AfDB, themed “structural transformation of Africa,” are held in the presence of eminent personalities from Africa, such as Governmental officials, AfDB executives and Moroccan and foreign experts.
More than 3,300 delegates including African Finance Ministers, Central Bank Governors and CEOs from the Bank’s 78 member countries are attending the Marrakesh meeting of the AfDB.
Key sectors discussed include infrastructure, climate change, the private sector and governance.
Delegates representing other multilateral finance institutions, private sector chief executives, civil society organisations and journalists are also attending. High-level talks and discussions and other events are deliberating on the continent’s economic, social and political issues and how they can be leveraged to sustain the continents economic growth.
