GCC-Moroccan Investment Forum will begin at Tangier on Monday

MUSCAT: Deliberations of the GCC-Moroccan Investment Forum will begin at Tangier in the Moroccan Kingdom on Monday, May 6th under the auspices of King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

The three-day forum will be themed “Strategic Partnership to Build Economy for the Future “.

Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will take part in the forum by a delegation to be led by Khalil bin Abdullah al-Khunji, OCCI Chairman.

Al-Khunji affirmed in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) the importance of utilizing the investment opportunities in the Moroccan Kingdom, particularly in the agricultural projects, which will help countries in the region achieve their vision in supporting projects of the food security, besides setting up joint ventures in the industrial field due to availability of skilled efficiencies and manpower, promising markets and primary materials, the major geographic location, in addition to establishing funds to finance the joint ventures.

OCCI Chairman added that the GCC-Moroccan relations, which witnessed rapprochement during the last years, contributed in making a qualitative leap in the direct GCC investments.

The forum will witness participation of elite officials from Morocco and GCC countries, besides participation of a number of the private sector’s companies in the two countries.

It is expected that (120) GCC companies and (250) Moroccan companies will take part in the forum, representing tourism, real estate, energy, transport, logistic, agriculture and food industry sectors.

The forum aims at enhancing the economic and trade relations between the Moroccan Kingdom and the GCC countries, as well as creating a well-organized environment for communication among the GCC and Moroccan businessmen and presenting investment opportunities available in both sides.

Seven workshops will be held during the forum on the GCC-Moroccan cooperation in energy and minerals sectors, avenues of the GCC-Moroccan cooperation in the transport sector, fields of the GCC-Moroccan cooperation in the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) field, the GCC-Moroccan integration in the food and agricultural security, fields of cooperation among the GCC and Moroccan businesswomen among other important topics.

The main session of the forum will be held under the theme “Avenues of Strategic Partnership between the GCC Countries and the Moroccan Kingdom”. (QNA)
