The Moroccan police announced Friday the arrest of two Israeli men in the central city of Marrakech suspected of obtaining Moroccan identity documents illegally.

Research and investigations revealed that the two suspects had obtained Moroccan IDs and passports using forged documents, the Moroccan police said in a statement.

A residence permit issued by a Latin American country was also seized and its authenticity is being verified, the statement added.

The suspects obtained the Moroccan IDs through the help of a criminal network that was dismantled last month in Casablanca, it noted.

On March 23, Morocco announced that five Israelis had been arrested as part of an ongoing probe into the criminal network, which is led by a Moroccan of Jewish faith, and suspected of falsifying Moroccan IDs for the benefit of the Jewish citizens of non-Moroccan origin, the statement said.
