RABAT, May 1 (Xinhua) — The World Bank has increased its assistance to Morocco to 4 billion U.S. dollars during the 2014- 2017 period.

“The bank will increase Morocco’s funding to 1 billion dollars yearly,” said the Moroccan newspaper, Le Matin, Thursday quoting the World Bank director for the Maghreb, Simon Gray.

“The strategic partnership framework under which the World Bank will raise its financial support includes three pillars, namely the promotion of an inclusive, competitive growth, of a green and resilient future and of governance and institutions to offer better services to citizens,” Gray said.

The World Bank’s board of directors approved on Tuesday two new projects for Morocco, which seek to support the financial sector and promote water access in rural areas.
