London – British Foreign Secretary William Hague applauded on Friday Morocco and Tunisia for their positive developments against the backdrop of the Arab Spring.

“Morocco has held free elections under a new constitution,” said Hague in an article published in the British daily, the Times.

“Tunisia has its first democratically elected parliament since the 1950s, with 24 per cent of the seats held by women,” said Hague.

On the Middle East, Hague said that achieving stability in the region “will be the work of generations”.“ We cannot dictate choices and each country has a right to find its own way”.

The British official voiced willingness to work with “all governments in the region committed to reform and will invest time and resources in strengthening civil society.”
