Moroccan telecom group Wana is among a number of telecom groups that have replied to the call for expressions of interest in Cote d’Ivoire’s fourth mobile licence. Wana is 69 percent owned by Moroccan national investment company SNI and 31 percent by Koweiti telecom group Zain.
The company’s public relations and press director, Lamia Amsaguine, told Moroccan news website Telquel that the move shows that Wana desire to invest in Africa now that it is well developed in Morocco, adding that the company will not hesitate to participate in interesting tenders in other African countries. Telecom regulator ARTCI is expected to announce the list of shortlisted applicants soon.
