AN IVYBRIDGE primary school teacher is taking part in this year’s Marathon des Sables in Morocco – a 150 mile footrace through the Sahara Desert.
Matthew Bisco aged 30 is encouraging people to help him raise funds for a children’s trust in Morocco and hoping to make international links in Plymouth through this work.
Matthew said: “This six-day stage race (longest day 45-50 miles) will present some known and many more unknown challenges for me and the other men and women taking part.
“Olympic gold medalist James Cracknell wrote his MdS story in 2010, reflecting on “The toughest race of [his] life”. Okay, so he was emotional. But this event does have physical, motivational and financial implications for which I (as did he) need support from many; support from people who share my vision for the good that adventures can achieve.”
