Casablanca – The issue of the freedom of conscience was settled as part of the last reform of the constitution, Mustapha El Khalfi, Communication minister and government’s spokesperson, said on Friday in Casablanca.
The new constitution lays provisions for forbidding any kind of discrimination on the basis of religion and clearly states that the State guarantees religious worship, he said during a symposium by the “Democracy and Modernity” Collective on “the freedom of thought in Morocco”.
The Kingdom, which has undertaken a long process of reforms, has set up rules and regulations securing the preservation of these basics provided for in the Constitution namely Islam, territorial unity, monarchy and democratic option, he underlined.
