Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met on Tuesday with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nasser Bourita to discuss the situation in Libya and Syria, as well as Western Sahara, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on its website.

“In an exchange of opinions on regional issues of mutual interest, the main focus was on the situation in Libya and Syria, as well as on Western Sahara settlement ahead of discussion at UN Security Council on an extension of the mandate of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara,” the ministry said.

The sides “emphasized the importance of overcoming the conflict situations only politically, in strict compliance with rules of international law and provisions of the UN Charter,” the ministry added.
