Spanish giants FC Barcelona will be playing a friendly match against Morocco’s Raja Casablanca on July 28 in the Kingdom’s northern city of Tangier.
According to the initial programme, Barca were to play the local Atlas Lions, but the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) altered the arrangement following the absence of a number of local players currently on vacation.
The Green Eagles were finally picked to face the 2011 UEFA champions, who will be coming for a lucrative summer pre-season tour, with €1 million (R 10 m) to earn for their participation in the encounter, according to organisers.
The FRMF said it would officialise the fixture on Wednesday by releasing a statement to the press.
The friendly match is being organised by a committee made up of the Morocco sports ministry, the national society of the implementation and management of stadiums (SONARGES), a Swiss events promoter and a local sponsor.
