MADRID, Feb 3 (KUNA) — Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo received here on Friday his Moroccan counterpart Saad-Dine Al-Otmani, the Spanish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The two sides explored ways for cementing the bilateral ties in the economic, commercial and security domains, according to the statement.
They also discussed a range of regional issues including Morocco’s ties with the European Union, the Middle East peace process and the efforts to revive the role of the Union for the Mediterranean.
They stated a shared desire to strengthen the commercial ties and the tourist exchanges, enhance the two-way investment flow, and scale up the combat against trans-border crimes including illicit immigration and drug trafficking.
Garcia-Margallo lauded Morocco as a strategic ally for Spain and welcomed the EU decision to launch talks with Morocco on the renewal of the fishing treaty, the statement added.
Upon arrival here earlier today for an official visit, the Moroccan minister was received by Spanish King Juan Carlos at the royal palace. (end) hnd.gb KUNA 040022 Feb 12NNNN
